Quiet begins in small relationships, not simply in the absence of sound.

The quietest room in a home may not be the one furthest inside. The direction of a window, the angle of a door, and the movement of those who live together combine to make a place for quiet.

Considering an empty ground floor through its relationship with the city and street.

An empty ground floor is not only an unfinished interior. The possibilities of a city emerge when we look at the boundary between street and room, and ask whether there is space for people to pause or pass through.
